The challenge: aligning with evolving sustainability frameworks and balancing storytelling and technical compliance
To align with evolving market practices and European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), Delivery Hero sought expert support to review and optimize its corporate sustainability reporting. The objective was to enhance the structure and content of its sustainability statements to ensure readability for external stakeholders, and to ensure alignment with ESRS disclosure requirements.
To achieve a balance between storytelling and technical compliance, Delivery Hero partnered with TomorrowWorks to leverage its sustainability expertise.
The approach: strategic review, redundancy elimination, and expert alignment
TomorrowWorks acted as an extended team to support Delivery Hero throughout the annual reporting process, providing specialized expert guidance. Rather than deploying a rigid methodology, we integrated directly into their workflows to collaborate closely on the following core activities:
- Sustainability statement structure: we co-designed the sustainability statement structure and mapped granular ESRS requirements, prioritizing readability and narrative flow.
- Targeted chapter reviews: our team conducted expert content reviews of critical, high-impact topics such as climate change, sustainability strategy, and workers in the value chain. We sharpened these sections to ensure corporate storytelling while eliminating cross-chapter repetitions.
- Technical disclosure clarification: utilizing our reporting expertise, we collaborated with Delivery Hero’s topic experts to clarify technical disclosure requirements. This ensured complex operational data was translated into meaningful, compliant disclosures.

The collaboration yielded an easy-to-read sustainability statement, balancing storytelling and technical compliance:
- Enhanced report readability: The optimized structure of the report significantly improved content navigation, allowing investors, auditors, and regulatory bodies to easily locate Delivery Hero’s strategy, actions and related data per material topic.
- Relevant, decision useful disclosure: The report includes new disclosures compared to previous year, adding depth and context across material topics.
